Our online Community Support Worker: Addictions & Mental Health Specialization diploma program features an introduction to addictions, pharmacology and mental health essentials to create a strong knowledge base upon which to build. A module on case management emphasizes the importance of documentation, collaboration, care planning, and follow-up.

You will learn to support clients through the initial steps and continued journey toward positive change, addressing the risks of relapse and strategies for prevention. You will also learn essential skills in balancing professional boundaries and self-care and understanding the importance of setting limits. You will attain the required industry-standard certifications in FoodSafe Level 1, First Aid with CPR Level C and Suicide Prevention.

Potential workplace environments include community centres, addiction treatment centres, group homes, shelters, healthcare facilities and more. In just 8 months, you will have the skills and knowledge to play a vital role in helping persons with addiction and/or mental health concerns lead happier, healthier lives.
