In just six months, you will be equipped with the practical and professional skills for a career path in long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, rehabilitation centres, community recreation programs and more.

Our hybrid Therapeutic Recreation Activity Assistant diploma program prepares you to plan, lead, and assess recreational activities for individuals or groups, particularly older adults with cognitive or physical challenges. You will develop essential skills in communication, leisure planning, dementia care and person-centered support, emphasizing safety and lifestyle enhancement. Training includes food safety, first aid and violence prevention in the workplace.

A six-week, field-related practicum rounds out the program, giving you the opportunity to apply your skills and gain valuable insight into your new career.
